It’s a rarity indeed for me to take any sort of interest in green growing things, especially a house plant. But Jnr has a Venus Fly Trap plant that has sat on the kitchen window sill, motionless, for months. No living thing has gone near it, ever, apart from the cat. Which is too big to be eaten, naturally.
The little instruction card says it should be watered with rainwater, so it regularly gets put outside for a while, where it’s guaranteed a drink every day.
I picked it up to bring it in today and I nearly fainted when I saw it had caught not one, but two Daddy Long Legs. But even better than that, they were still alive!
Prod their legs and they twitch. It’ll be interesting to see how long that lasts for as they are digested.

3 people riling Jaggy:
Daddy long legs update: I'm sad to report that both Daddy long legs have now passed away, they both leave a wife, Jenny long legs aged 3 weeks, and 2 children, Wee short legs aged 3 days and 4 days.
There's really only two plants a bloke can own - a venus fly trap and a cactus. There's something very compelling about watching a plant devour something. Slowly.
In a similar vein Bison Daughter found a big green Praying Mantis this week and we watched it catch and eat crickets in a box. Let me tell you, that thing could move, and it was hungry!
Those venus flytraps scared the shit out of me when I was a bairn, come to think of it I didn't like daddy longlegs much either. My childhood appears to have been one of constant fear
